On the Second Day of Christmas...

My name is Alice,
And I have these obsessions...

Welcome to my 12 Days of Christmas!

I love food and I am pretty sure everyone knows it. At Christmas time our family isn't one for the turkey or any of the "traditional" or common Christmas foods. One thing people in America mostly, seem to rave about at Christmas time is SUGAR COOKIES! So I thought why not make some to see what the fuss is all about.
You will need:
- 2 3/4 cups plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- Decorations for your cookies. I used white icing and coloured sugars.

You just:
1. Preheat oven to 160 degrees Celsius.
2. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
3. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer (By hand with a whisk or rotary beater if you want, but it may take some time.)
4. Add eggs and beat well.
5. Add vanilla and beat well.
6. Gradually stir in flour mixture until just blended.
7. Roll a tablespoon of the dough into a ball and place onto a lined tray if baking after refrigerating, or into a container if you are going to wait.
8. Refrigerate the balls of dough for about 20 minutes or until you want to cook them.
9. When baking, place balls of dough onto a baking paper lined tray, flatten each slightly with the back of a spoon or the palm of your hand and bake for 6-8 minutes or until golden and crisp around the edges.
10. Cool on the tray for 5 minutes then remove onto a wire cooling rack.
11. And of course once cooled, you have to decorate. I went a little crazy here and decorated them all to the extreme!

So the verdict?

They were really yummy! They are no different to normal biscuits (or cookies) that I would be making really. I didn't make the full mixture straight away, so I wrapped the extra dough in some Glad Wrap and froze it until I wanted to cook some more cookies.
Stay Excited, Be Joyful and Merry Christmas.
