My First Fake Tanning Experience...

My name is Alice,
And I have these obsessions...

In this seasons edit of The Parcel, I was sent a mini sample of the St. Tropez Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mousse. I was really scared to try out a fake tan for the first time after seeing and hearing horror stories of girls who ended up orange, patchy or were left with white hands. But after chatting to some of the girls from work (Thanks Ali for giving me the confidence boost both before and after my tan!) I just went for it.

Before Tanning

The night before tanning I shaved my legs and exfoliated my skin to its limit. I used a coconut coffee scrub everywhere in an attempt to reduce the risk of a tanning casualty.

For the tan, I used one of the reusable tanning mitts from St. Tropez (also sent to me in The Parcel) along with another one from Bondi Sands. Out of the two I preferred the St. Tropez one, although it did seem to absorb alot of the product. The Bondi Sands one was more microfibre like which felt a little weird on the skin.

It was really easy to apply and blend out. The hardest part was your back which I found a few little tricks so you could reach that tricky middle part. I used a back scrubber (I bought one from Kmart for $5) with a tanning mitt attached to reach my back.

It says on the bottle to wait until it is touch dry before putting on clothes. I left mine to dry for 40 minutes or a whole episode of Jane the Virgin (New season on Netflix guys!! Check it out, I love it so much!). I was a bit worried that I would wake up in the morning with no tan left on my body and with orange sheets.

The Next Morning

I woke up with all the tan still on my body and went for a shower. In total, my tan was probably on for nine hours and I really like how it developed. I actually got a few compliments about my tan (Thanks Mum, you are a one of a kind). After being a lovely shade of Winter White for so long I felt like a Bronzed Goddess!

I went to work that day, stuck a date sticker to my wrist not even second guessing it and RIPPED OFF SOME OF MY TAN! I made my kind of sad because I knew that hours of hard work had gone into it, but after popping a little bit of tan over the top of it that night and letting it sit for a little while everything is okay again.

Three Days Later

It has definitely gotten a little darker over the past couple of days. I have been moistursing everyday to ensure that my tan will last as long as possible. I am thinking within the next couple of days I'm going to re apply it or even booked myself in for a spray tan (One of the ladies I know gets tham and they look so lovely and natural).

We will see how it all goes.
